Eugene Richards’s book, The Fat Baby, is a collection of fifteen textual and photographic stories. The stories included here immerse us in the lives of an embattled Kansas City street gang, drought-plagued villagers in Niger, patients in a nightmarish Mexican psychiatric institute, doctors in a frontline Serbian hospital.

They chronicle the birth of a young couple’s first child and the day-to-day lives of the elderly in a small Nebraska farming town.
