Upstate Girls
Poverty? I haven't found a good term for it yet. I hate the term poverty.
What struck me is that nothing has changed. Very little does change for the working class. Today there is a loss of hope and people no longer believe that by working hard they can progress to the next level.
I left home the first time when I was 14. I always felt a sense of suffocation and entrapment. And my siblings did not.
I'm proud about my fuck-you-ism.
For the girls, the right guy is like having the right pair of sneakers. Women are the emotional constant.
I was shooting in black and white when I started. I quickly started to regret it because the color is a layer of editorial information that you're missing. Then I thought I can do what I want and switched to color.
