Evening celebrated by partners and friends of Visa pour l’Image – Perpignan.

The twentieth edition of Perpignan’s International Festival of Photojournalism was a great success. That is why, we wanted to give you a first evaluation of the Festival 2008 during an evening filled with culture, economy and region, which was celebrated in collaboration with Le Mas Vermeil restaurant.

This occasion allowed us to gather all those people who ensure that the festival is always a great success: the institutional, economic and cultural partners, as well as the press. All this in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, with wine tasting by the « Vignerons Catalans en Roussillon », recently awarded at the SIAL (Salon International de l'Agroalimentaire).

As you all know, Visa pour l'Image- Perpignan has been for 20 years the main event of the city, the department and the region. Furthermore, the Festival held in September, Visa pour l'Image (nowadays the first unquestionable worldwide festival of photojournalism) has been related to several events:

- On the 20th October 2008, VISA pour l'IMAGE received the "Lucy Spotlight Award" in New York.

- The organization on the 3rd and 4th November of two great projection evenings at the Grand Rex in Paris.

- Alexandra Boulat's exhibition called « VISA pour l'IMAGE« , at the Salon de la Photo in Paris.

This success, that is confirmed and reinforced year after year, couldn't have been possible without the unconditional support from our partners.

That is why we wanted to thank Didier DESCHAMPS, Regional Director of Culture, Jean-Paul ALDUY, Mayor senator and Jean-François LEROY, Artistic Director of the festival, specially for their support. Besides, we wanted to perpetuate in front of them the future of our festival. In order to do so, we signed a tripartite agreement which binds the State, the City and the Association for the next four years, and we also signed a contract between the Association and Images Evidence, company managed by Jean-François Leroy.
